The Louisiana Technical College (LTC) delivers instructional programs which provide skilled employees for business and industry that contribute to the overall economic development and workforce needs of the state.
The geographic area served by the college includes Sabine Parish and the northern part of Vernon Parish. Towns and communities served include Many, Zwolle, Converse, Pleasant Hill, Belmont, Florien, Negreet, Ebarb, Hornbeck, and Anacoco.
Enrollment is around 150 students, with approximately 115 of these students full time.
The Sabine Valley Campus provides job skill training in:
- Accounting Technology
- Automotive Technology
- Computer Specialist-Applications
- Nurse Assistant
- Office System Technology
- Welding
Classes are offered at the Sabine Valley Campus during the day. Credit classes lead to a Technical Diploma. Students enrolled in non-credit courses receive a certificate of completion to verify mastery of the skills presented. All training is provided by certified instructional personnel using state-of-the-art equipment in clean pleasant surroundings.
Job placement assistance is provided to all students. Students must purchase books and tools as required. Pell grants are available to those students who meet the federal program requirements.
The Sabine Valley Campus of the Louisiana Technical College System is accredited by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education.
HISTORY
In 1952, the Louisiana State Legislature established the Sabine Parish Trade School as a state-operated, public, post-secondary school under the governance of the Louisiana Department of Education. The purpose was to offer broader vocational educational opportunities to the people of DeSoto, Sabine, and Vernon Parishes.
