Ranked by population, Sabine Parish is the 39th most populated parish of Louisiana's 64 parishes.

The 2000 U.S. Census recorded 9,221 households in Sabine Parish, and 6,593 families residing in Sabine Parish. Population density in Sabine Parish was 27 people per square mile. There were 13,691 housing units at an average density of 16 per square mile.

The average household size was 2.5 persons and the average family size was 3 persons.

In the parish the population was spread out with 26.20% under the age of 18, 8.30% from 18 to 24, 24.50% from 25 to 44, 24.40% from 45 to 64, and 16.50% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 95.70 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.60 males.
